【摘要】:Installedgeosyntheticsaresubjectedtoforcesfrommorethanonedirectionincludingforcesperpendiculartothesurfacesofthegeosynthetic.Outofplanedeformationofageosyntheticmaybeusefulinevaluatingmaterialsforcapswheresubsidenceofthesubsoilmaybeproblematic.Failuremechanismsonthistestmaybedifferentcomparedtootherrelativelysmallscaleindextestsandmaybebeneficialfordesignpurposes.Inapplicationswherelocalsubsidenceisexpected,thistestcanbeconsideredaperformancetest.Note18212;Although,thistestspecifiesavesselsizeof600mm,largerdiametervesselswillbetterapproximatefieldperformance.However,theuseriscautionedthatdifferentsizevesselsmayyielddifferentresultsandhencemaynotbecomparable.5.4Forapplicationswheregeosyntheticscannotbedeformedinthefashionthistestmethodprescribes,thistestmethodshouldbeconsideredanindextest.Duetothetimeinvolvedtoperformthistestmethod,itisnotconsideredpracticalasaqualitycontroltest.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthemeasurementoftheout-of-planeresponseofgeosyntheticstoaforcethatisappliedperpendiculartotheinitialplaneofthesample.1.2Whenthegeosyntheticdeformstoaprescribedgeometricshape(arcofasphereorellipsoid)formulationsareprovidedtoconvertthetestdatatobiaxialtensilestress-strainvalues.Theseformulationscannotbeusedforothergeometricshapes.Withothergeometricshapes,comparativedataondeformationversuspressureisobtained.1.3Thistestmethodismorecommonlyusedtotestgeomembranes.Permeablematerialsmayalsobetestedinconjunctionwithanimpermeablematerial.1.4Thistestmethodrequiresalargediameterpressurevessel(600mm).InformationobtainedfromthistestmethodmaybemoreappropriatefordesignpurposesthanmanysmallscaleindextestssuchasTestMethodD6693orTestMethodD7003.1.5ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
