【摘要】:Allofthesetestmethodscanbeusedforquantitativedeterminationsofbitumeninhot-mixedpavingmixturesandpavementsamplesforspecificationacceptance,serviceevaluation,control,andresearch.Eachmethodprescribesthesolventorsolventsandanyotherreagentsthatcanbeusedinthetestmethod.TestMethodD1856requiresthatMethodAbeusedwhenasphaltisrecoveredfromsolution.Note28212;Thequalityoftheresultsproducedbythisstandardaredependentonthecompetenceofthepersonnelperformingtheprocedureandthecapability,calibration,andmaintenanceoftheequipmentused.AgenciesthatmeetthecriteriaofStandardPracticearegenerallyconsideredcapableofcompetentandobjectivetesting/sampling/inspection/etc.UsersofthisstandardarecautionedthatcompliancewithPracticealonedoesnotcompletelyassurereliableresults.Reliableresultsdependonmanyfactors;followingthesuggestionsofPracticeorsomesimilaracceptableguidelineprovidesameansofevaluatingandcontrollingsomeofthosefactors.1.1Thesetestmethodscoverthequantitativedeterminationofbitumeninhot-mixedpavingmixturesandpavementsamples.AggregateextractedfromapavingmixturemaybeusedforsieveanalysisusingTestMethodD5444.1.2ThevaluesstatedineitherSIunitsorinch-poundunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemmaynotbeexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemshallbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnon-conformancewiththestandard.1.2.1MeasurementsofvolumeandmassareonlygiveninSIunitsbecausetheyaretheonlyunitstypicallyusedinpracticewhenperformingthistestmethod.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecifichazardsaregiveninSection7.Note18212;Theresultsobtainedbythesetestmethodsmaybeaffectedbytheageofthematerialtested,witholdersamplestendingtoyieldslightlylowerbitumencontent.Bestquantitativeresultsareobtainedwhenthetestismadeonmixturesandpavementsshortlyaftertheirpreparation.Itisdifficulttoremovealltheasphaltwhensomeaggregatesareusedandsomechloridesmayremainwithinthemineralmatteraffectingthemeasuredasphaltcontent.
